About Us:
The English Language Institute (ELI) is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team as International Student Support Ambassadors! We host a diverse array of students who come to Utah to learn English and we need proficient English speakers to act as older siblings to guide them through their study abroad journey. Sign up if you respect other cultures and love fun activities!
Responsibilities:
- Engage in fun games, facilitate English language practice, and foster a welcoming environment for international students.
- Accompany students on Fridays or Saturdays to various locations in Utah, such as the Zoo, museums, or other exciting places, providing language support, guidance, and photo-taking for ELI social media.
- Assist students during activities, offering help with language barriers and ensuring they have a positive experience.
- Contribute to the setup, service, and cleanup of welcome parties and graduation ceremonies.
- Participate in the Conversation club on Tuesdays.
Requirements:
- Must be a fluent English speaker.
- Preferably a University of Utah student or from another institute.
- Respectful of diverse cultures and languages.
- Available on Tuesdays from 2:00pm to 3:00pm for Conversation Club.
- Flexible schedule on Fridays or Saturdays for activities.
- Preferably speaks more than one language.
- Experience with studying abroad or exposure to different cultures.
- Interest in learning another language.
- Enthusiastic about making new friends.
